Thursdays through Mondays in June, July, and August; weekends in April, May,
September, and October. The water flow depends on dam releases. Can be crowded
in summer, especially on weekends. Highway 64 runs the length of the river, so
many tourists watch from the riverbanks
Weather
While early spring and late fall are often cool (45-70F) and wet, late spring
and summer bring heat (75-90F) and humidity to the southern Appalachians. The
sun can be quite hot and relentless in summer.
