We had closed The Magic Kingdom the night before, so we did not wake up until
11:00am. The kids were still rubbing the sleep out of their eyes when they
reminded me that today we were going horseback riding. I would not go as far as
to make this a Disney Dad Tip, but be careful when your watching those Disney
promotional videos. It's easy to get caught up in the excitement and say things
like whatever you want to do this vacation is for you or horseback riding, why
not? Anyway we had a quick breakfast in the room and headed to Fort Wilderness
Campgrounds and our 12:30pm reservation for a trail ride. We jumped on the
monorail to the Ticket & Transportation Center and from there we caught a
bus to the Campground Guest Service Area. The group of eight guests were
introduced to their horses, given some basic rules and with one cast member at
the front and another bringing up the rear we set out. The forty five minute
ride was relaxing and enjoyable for me and a real hit with our two nine year
olds. We returned by bus to Trading Post area of Fort Wilderness Campgrounds
Resort. Before boarding the boat and returning to our resort we decided to try
the Trails End Buffet for lunch. Overall this was an enjoyable and memorable
family experience.
