Nan Quan Mama

Name: Nan Quan Mama
Nan Quan Mama is a Taiwanese music group. "Nan" means south, "quan" fist, and "mama" mother. It loosely means "south fist mother", powerful as the South Fist (a traditional Chinese martial art) but gentle as a mother. They are closely tied with the popular music artist Jay Chou. The members consist of Lara Veronin (vocalist), Devon (Drummer, DJ, rapper), Yuhao (Pianist, rapper) and Zhang Jie (Guitarist, singer). Each of the members contribute to composing their songs, and also sing together in most of their songs, although some of their songs are composed and sung solely by one of the members, such as the song Crystal Dragonfly composed and sung by Lara. They are the official spokespeople for Motorola in Taiwan.

They released three albums: Nan Quan Mama's Summer (May 2004), Meal No.2 (August 2005) and Color Palette! (May 2006).
After all, being Jay's "apprentices", it is not surprising to find that their songs resemble very closely to his. Even in some songs, I find that the main vocalist's way of singing is a bit like Jay's. After they debuted, they have always been under Jay's shadows. They do not have the powerful vocal and idol's good-looking face. But their talents on music composing are undeniable.
Lara, the only girl in the group, is Jay's junior. Her grandfather is Russia American and she inherited some "Russians characteristics", but still manages to speak concise Mandarin. She also learned to play instrument while singing from his father. And she likes to compose music. Her love relationship has always been under the media's scrutiny. Her voice is very popular and even Jay admires her voice, singing in a duet together in Coral Sea.
