Readability of Quickoffice documents, spreadsheets and presentations have been greatly enhanced on OS 5 handhelds as each application will leverage the 320 x 320 pixels of Palm OS 5 screens. The new high-resolution screens offer twice the resolution of most current generation handhelds. Quickword also offers full OS 5 high resolution FontBucket support and is supplied with a free Windows-based TrueType font converter.

Unique Hardware Support
All Quickoffice Pro applications are fully optimized to take
advantage of the new 5-way navigation pad on the Palm Tungsten T and
Tungsten W handhelds, and also boast full support for utilizing the
full screen of the latest Sony NX series devices, by using the
"virtual graffiti" area for extended application display.
Wireless Connectivity
With superior on-board support for such wireless networking
standards as Bluetooth and WiFi/802.11b, the next wave of Palm OS 5
handhelds provides unique capabilities to take advantage of Cutting
Edge Software's wireless file management and document collaborative
innovations, Mobilefile(TM) and Quickoffice Conference. Users of the
latest wireless handhelds will be able to leverage their devices'
wireless capabilities to save, retrieve and exchange files, as well
as collaborate on Quickoffice files.
Quickword
Quickword allows you to work with text and word processing documents
on your Palm handheld and seamlessly integrates with Microsoft Word
to enable you to edit and view your desktop documents with rich text
formatting compatibility on your Palm OS handheld computer.
List View
The List View displays a list of the documents that are present on
your device. You can see information about
each document here including size, date, and other settings. You can
also use the Action Icon to perform
different actions on the document such as deleting, beaming, and
duplicating.

Action Popup Menu

Move to Card
Moves the highlighted document to the expansion card. (Handera
operation note: if both CF and SD slots are occupied with cards, the file is moved to the compact
flash card)
Export to DOC
Sends the contents of the selected file, including formatting tags,
out to a standard Palm DOC file for use in other reader
applications, or for beaming to others.
Export to Memo Pad
Sends the contents of the selected file, including formatting tags,
out to one or more Memo pad files for editing with the built-in Memo pad application.
Duplicate
Duplicate the document.
Append Memo
Open the Import Memo dialog to append a memo to a Quickword file.
Delete
Delete the document.
Formatting Documents
To either review text formatting settings, or to change text
formatting, there are a variety of new menu items and toolbar icons.
The primary means of accessing formatting settings is the new
Formatting Dialog box, shown below. This dialog is opened
when the formatting toolbar icon is
selected in the document view.

Find and Replace Dialog
Find Field
Enter the text to locate. You can tap the “Find:” label to have
Quickword automatically insert the currently selected text into the
Find dialog.
Replace Field
Enter the text to replace with.
Options Menu |Spell Check
Selection…
Highlight a word, passage or text block, and choose to initiate a
spell check of the selection.
Viewing Document Tags
Quickword formats documents in much the same manner that web pages
are formatted, using standard HTML
instruction tags — strings of characters specifying the formatting
instruction and any associated variables—
within a normally “hidden” view. Unlike other Palm OS word
processors, Quickword provides visibility and editing control
of these tags via the Show/Hide
Tags option within the Options | Preferences menu item, or by
tapping the Show/Hide Tags icon on the
document editing toolbar.
When toggling the display mode from normal to Show Tags mode, all
“carriage return strokes” will be revealed as <br> tags, and so the
display of the text is noticeably disrupted from the previous view.
However, this rich view provides the flexibility to add specific
instructions to files making Quickword a valuable tool for advanced
users. This manual does not provide sufficient space to provide an
entire primer on HTML editing, but there are a number of commonly
used Tags supported by Quickword that even the casual user will find
useful.
Quickchart
Charts are quickly created from within Quicksheet and are treated
similar to any
other Quicksheet function that accepts a range (e.g. SUM, CNT, AVG).
To create a chart, click an empty cell and
choose the formula picker. Select the “CHART” function. Using the
stylus, drag-select the range of data to
chart. Or, you can use Graffiti to enter the range. You can
include row and column labels and these are automatically
detected (as long as they are text). If
they are not text, be sure to appropriately choose this option in
the forthcoming chart properties dialog. Lastly, gesture the enter
stroke or tap off the cell to complete the cell edit. Chart cells
will display “*CHART*”.
