Acrobat Reader 3.05 for Palm OS
Acrobat Reader 3.05 allows users to view files in Adobe PDF format. The reader is the Palm OS application that runs on the Palm OS device, designed to accommodate the characteristics of small-screen devices. It is capable of displaying both text and images and preserves the rich content of files. Users can search for a specific word or phrase. It includes a desktop application that converts the PDFs for viewing on the Palm and the Palm OS viewer application that lives on the handheld. Corporations are experiencing rapid growth in the use of PDAs in
the enterprise, both for personal information management and
vertical processes, such as sales, service and marketing. Making
high-fidelity business documents available on portable platforms is
necessary to complement the extension of vertical applications to
these platforms, such as sales automation applications and service
automation applications.
So far, few established publishers in the eBook market have taken
any interest in handhelds as eBook readers. However, given Adobe's
position as a widely trusted document handling actor, its
introduction of support for its eBook format is likely to present a
more attractive proposal to publishers - both due to Adobe's
position in the market and now multi-platform compatability. |

In addition to its support for eBooks, the latest version now provides the capability to print PDF files wirelessly over the Internet using Electronics for Imaging's (EFI) PrintMe network. The EFI PrintMe network allows users to print to enabled printers and fax machines from handhelds without requiring cables, print drivers or a network setup.
Adobe Reader for Palm OS conveniently reflows Adobe PDF text to fit and be easily read on small screens, while preserving graphics and images. Adobe Reader for Palm OS includes two components that work together: The desktop application (and conduit during HotSyncŪ) runs on your desktop computer. It prepares PDF files for the Palm OS and transports them to the user's handheld device.
