Families
By Amy | Reporter Date: 04/28/2003
Palm, Inc. introduced two handhelds -- the Zire 71 handheld with a
built-in digital camera and audio/video playback capability; and the
Tungsten C handheld, Palm's most powerful handheld computer with
built-in high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity.
Zire 71
Bringing multimedia capabilities to the Zire product family, the
affordable Zire 71 handheld offers a built-in digital camera. Media
aficionados also will enjoy listening to MP3s, watching video clips
and carrying their personal photo albums wherever they go. The
all-new sliding design hides a concealed digital camera for
spontaneous photo capture, giving users the ability to capture life
on-the-go.

The Zire 71 handheld is available now for an estimated U.S. street
price of $299.
Tungsten C
Tungsten C handheld is Palm's most powerful handheld computer with
built-in high-speed wireless connectivity to address what campus
networkers want most in a handheld. It is Palm's first device to
ship with integrated Wi-Fi, or 802.11b, for wireless campus
connectivity. It offers 64MB of memory (51MB usable) to manage
data-intensive applications; 400MHz of ARM processing power; and
integrated, full-featured business applications, such as VersaMail
2.5 for email, and DataViz® Documents To Go for efficiently managing
Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint compatible documents.

The Palm Tungsten C handheld is $499 (estimated U.S. street price)
and is scheduled to be available on May 5.
In addition to Palm's classic Date Book, Address Book, To Do List
and Note Pad functions, both new products feature Palm's sharpest
high-resolution color screen to date (320 x 320 transflective TFT);
fast ARM processors; Palm OS 5.2.1; and Palm's dual-expansion
technology, which includes the Palm Expansion Slot for SD Cards,
SDIO and MultiMediaCard media, and the Palm Universal Connector for
hardware add-ons. |
