Toshiba Information Systems (UK) Ltd, Mobile
Communications Division, today announced the availability of
the TG01 Windows phone with the new operating system Windows
Mobile 6.5 in Germany. Customers will recognize the
Microsoft-certified device by the Windows phone logo and the
reference to the latest improved version of the smartphone
operating system. As one of the first Windows Mobile 6.5
phones in Germany, the device will be available from O2.
Owners of the first TG01 will receive a free update on the
new Windows Mobile 6.5.

• Based on Windows Mobile 6.5 and equipped with the
latest version of Internet Explorer Mobile
• Intuitive user interface with the new SPB Mobile Shell 3
• Windows Marketplace for Mobile to download and install
Windows Mobile applications
• Toshiba TG01 Windows phone available from partner O2
The TG01 Windows phone offers an improved User Interface,
which makes navigation and individual setup even more easy,
and allows for users to take advantage of all of Windows
Mobile 6.5’s features including a new homescreen and a
finger-friendly start screen.
New interface for TG01 Windows phone
With the SPB Interface - SPB Mobile Shell 3, the new user
interface of the TG01 Windows phone offers – besides widgets
to individually organise the startscreen – finger friendly
agenda view and profile editor as well as the integration of
Facebook. Using the widgets, one can easily launch the media
player or wireless manager, add meetings to the timetable or
configure profiles. The contact list can now be spiced up
visually with a 3D carousel for the most important contacts.
Thus, the TG01 Windows phone can not only be set up to
accommodate one’s wishes in terms of handling but also
visually.
Users benefit from Windows Mobile 6.5
Windows Mobile 6.5 features Windows Marketplace for Mobile
which enables users to download and install Windows Mobile
applications, including Games, Social Networking functions
and office-tools, meaning each handset can be personalised
to suit the tastes and needs of each individual user.
Support for the latest version of Internet Explorer® makes
it faster and easier to browse the Internet, and the free
Microsoft My Phone service enables users to protect their
phone by backing up data and securely share photos with
families and friends across PC, phone and the web-based
platforms. Based on the latest version of the Internet
Explorer Mobile, the TG01 supports Flash content.
Ultra slim mobile performer
Outstanding feature of the TG01 Windows phone is the
1-GHz-Snapdragon-processor from Qualcomm. Nonetheless
impressing is its 4.1 Zoll inch touchscreen with a
resolution of 800 x 600 pixels. With only 9.9 millimeters,
the TG01 Windows phone is also surprisingly slim. One of the
TG01 Windows phone’s core competences is the playback of
multimedia files: The Core player supports about 30
different AV-formats – ranging from Flash videos to DivX,
Xvid and MPEG to MP4, MP3 and AAC.
