Travel industry giant Sabre Holdings needed a Windows Mobile
version of its travel-tracking application, TripCase, to
attract business partners and the broad base of enterprise
customers with whom Windows phones are popular. The company
needed a fast time-to-market to launch the product in time
for the busiest travel time of the year, and it needed the
product to be compelling. Microsoft technologies and a savvy
solution provider, Clarius Consulting, helped bring the
product to market in just two months. The Windows Mobile
application features faster startup times, more streamlined
navigation and contact integration, and a more comprehensive
customer experience than the iPhone version. Customers have
been faster to download and use the Windows Mobile
application, and customer feedback on it has been more
positive.

employees around the globe, e-mail is a critical component
of the company’s day-to-day business. In 2007, it
implemented a unified communications solution based on
Microsoft software to help employees communicate more
effectively. To build on that solution, the company sought
to consolidate servers and data centers, increase employee
mailbox size, retire its e-mail archiving solution, and
update mobile and voice-mail services. Global Crossing
joined the Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 Rapid Deployment
Program to evaluate the benefits of the new architecture and
capabilities. After deploying the pilot, Global Crossing
found that it would be able to reduce costs, increase
availability and performance, and offer employees better
options for communicating anywhere, anytime.

Rainer Gold, a senior system engineer at Voith IT Solutions,
and two IT colleagues pilot-tested Windows phones with
Windows Mobile 6.5. Based on the successful pilot, Voith IT
will begin deploying the mobile phones to 2,000 users
worldwide. Gold expects to save money with easy-to-use
phones that help them work faster, are up to 20 percent less
expensive to operate, and work efficiently with the
company’s existing Microsoft software.
